#150 Giant Yabbies and Korma Crisps

Two interesting things I can tell you about tonight. The first is my self and one of the kids went over to the little waterfall bridge and climbed down the shallow bank. It’s a really nice area with two enormous ponds, replete with fountains and two bridges and large grassed areas and trees and well tended walking paths. There are lovely rocks you can sit on both at the edge and in the water itself. Birdlife abounds and there are always people walking, with and without dogs. So we went down and my kid brought with him some salami threaded through with thick string and a container. This was in the hope of catching a Yabbie and then relesing it back to it’s home. It was a beautiful day weather wise. I sat by and watched as he patiently dropped his homemade line into the water. We chatted and several times the line went taught with something on the end causing the tension. Before I had time to get my camera on my phone he exclaimed, “I’ve got one!” He was using my kitchen seive to place underneath the creature with one hand, while pulling it up with the other. This yabbie was huge and obsidian black. He was so big that he didn’t really fit into the seive and it was a fright too! He fell out of the seive and back into the murky depths. A yabbie looks sort of like a miniature lobster. He was a beauty! We had such a tale to share when we got back home and now there is new legend of the pond πŸ™‚

Next is the Korma Crisps. The brand is Tyrells and they are delicious! I was slightly sceptical but kept an open mind, a crisp that tastes like a Korma!? Hmmm…I have to report that they were scrumptious and reall do taste like a Korma curry! Mr Notebook and one of the kids went to the supermarket and I requested some crisps of a surprising nature and was happily delivered the Tyrells πŸ™‚

On the book front, I haven’t started the new one yet. Instead I’ve been trying to watch a Jane Eyre adaptation on Netflix. So far I’m enjoying it, but I keep falling asleep. Not because it’s terrible, on the contrary it’s very good, more because I’m so tired πŸ˜‰ So I’m off now to see if I can get to the end of it. xo
