On our wander today, my daughter( from here on in, referred to as Shiny) went into a Good Samaritan shop for a browse. I found, what looks to be a really great book called Hoax Cuisine – Faking it in the Kitchen. I’m quite excited to start reading it. It has recipes and stories and the writing is witty and fun! The author is Maggie Groff. I paid $3 what an absolute bargain 🙂
I had an appointment at Apple to get my battery replaced and my screen fixed but when I went back it turns out that I couldn’t get it fixed (a safety issue to do with the battery) but they would replace my phone instead. However, that would cost an extra sum and the lovely man said at that price I could get a new phone, newer model and he advised I get it somewhere else, in a very carefully worded way, because it would be cheaper than what he could offer in the store. I’m thankful to him for his honesty, and just like that I have a new phone! I also got Mr Notebook his new phone/Christmas present and he was so happy 🙂 We actually have twin phones and because they were on sale, we got two great phones for a great price! I love a good bargain and that is our Chrissy shopping for each other done. I will still get Mr N something nice for under the tree though. I’ve been saving for Chrissy all year 🙂
I was very attached to my old phone. I had it from early 2015 so it lasted quite a while and I loved it very much. I save up for things like phones and buy what I can afford outright, that way all I need is to have a pre-paid account or one of the other new no lock-in, bring your own device plans. These options offer much better value for money, though having said that, for the amount of time I keep a phone, a pay as you go plan would still be okay. I guess it’s whatever you’re comfortable with at the time 🙂
I’ve got it all set up and am certain it will become my new faithful companion. Who could have known we would be walking around with what are essentially powerful little computers in our pockets and even on our wrists. I’m not that old and I remember when I had to go to the post office to pay my bills or even post cheques. Now you do everything on your phone or with your phone. So cool! I remember when text messaging came along too and just about everyone had a Nokia 3310. I love technology and gadgets. xo

I get all my cookbooks from thrift stores too.

They are awesome places. I always find something special and wonder who it belonged to before me 🙂
