2021 Week 1 New Year?

Being honest, I’m not feeling like it is a new year. Still, Happy New Year to everyone in the world and best wishes as always. Our Christmas tree is still up but I’ll pack it up this week sometime and I’m busy writing documents for my kids home education state requirements. Legally I don’t need to do it the way I do, but. I find it easier as once I’ve completed the task it is done and we can carry on living and learning together.

I’m also meal planning as I spent my savings on home improvements from plumbing to air-conditioning and a pool vacuum. The solar hot water system also needed repairs and I needed plumbing put in for where I needed to out my washing machine. I also paid to have our house networked/wired for the internet and had data points in in each persons bedroom. I also had data points put in the lounge and the dining area so I could set up a wifi 6 mesh system to make sure we have complete coverage throughout the house. It was well worth it as everyone in our family games etc. this way you can plug your pc directly into the network rather than relying solely on the wifi. There was also Christmas, though that had been budgeted for. I thought I would be going into this year with savings but I hadn’t foreseen that we would be buying a home 🙂 That was a happy surprise and I’m still getting used to the idea that this is our place. No more rent inspections or having to worry about hanging pictures. I keep having to remind myself we are home. Maybe by the end of the year it will actually sink in and I will relax.

Speaking of relaxing, I watched the entire first season of Brigerton on Netflix. If you enjoy period dramas along the lines of Jane Austen novels, then you will love this. It is a feast for the eyes with all the costumes and settings and the plot line is engaging. I loved it 🙂

I’ve been doing quite a lot of cooking and am still organising as I go along. I’ve rewritten and adjusted my budget and timing of direct debits so I can best manage our funds and be able to save as well. Our solar panels go up on the 21st of this month! I’m pretty excited about that and very interested in seeing what kind of difference it makes to our power bill, keeping in mind the cost of the panels. Anyway, I hope you are well and happy and that your future days are filled with all of the good things. xo

New year, new diary 🙂 Thai green curry. One of Thomas’s creations 🙂
